Hello all. I am working on a paper about democracy, and was woundering how having a democracy in our governemnt gives us freedom or protects our rights. Could any body help me with this please?

It’s in the constitution. Article I, Section 6, Clause 2… I’ve read it, it’s there, I just don’t understand what the “theory” is behind it.
